Weekly Update – Club Captain Phil Barlow
We had a reduced field turn out for last Saturday’s golf which meant the field moved along quite nicely. The greens weren’t quite as fast as we have had them through winter which probably wasn’t such a bad thing with a cold and breezy NE wind for much of the day. With Club Champs over for the year there were a few out to make a statement and lock in qualifying for the Allprint Sunday Shootout with only a few rounds left to do so.
Interclub golf has its last rounds for the year for the senior teams this coming Sunday. A tough year for all our teams, but valiant efforts along the way with some close results. There is always next year! The Woodward team is at Templeton, The Blank team is at Avondale and the Pollock team is at Waimairi Beach, with the Simon team already finished for the year.
This weekend is Par for the men, and Marlin Trophy with others Strokeplay for the women.

Well done to you all.
Pro Tip by Undercover Pro
Great players have a 3:1 tempo
This means their backswing is 3 times longer than their through swing. So if you want to emulate anything from the pro’s on TV, make it their tempo. Count to 3 on the back swing, and 1 through to hitting the ball.
Rule of the week (Finding and identifying a ball – Rule 7.1 a)
You May Take Reasonable Actions to Find and Identify Ball
You may fairly search for the ball by taking reasonable actions to find and identify it, such as:
- Moving sand and water, and
- Moving or bending grass, bushes, tree branches and other growing or attached natural objects, and also breaking such objects, but only if such breaking is a result of other reasonable actions taken to find or identify the ball.
If taking such reasonable actions as part of a fair search improves the conditions affecting the stroke there is no penalty. But if the improvement results from actions that exceeded what was reasonable for a fair search, you get the general penalty.

Midweek Mens Results – from Peter Larkin
Although there was a bit of sun shining, we were greeted with a cool South Easterly this morning. This is our annual event with Waitikiri visiting us- We visit them in April, all for the ‘bragging’ rights for the Challenge Cup. 53 in the field with a few late withdrawals multiple tees were required and the course was busy with an additional 8 visitors from Taieri Lakes Golf Club off hole 10. The weather threatened with dark clouds passing overhead but that all disappeared, and the sun made a welcome return, and we finished in quite nice conditions. The greenkeepers rolled the greens as we proceeded with didn’t help our visitors (!) and Harewood made the most of home advantage with a victory 33.33/29.43.
Congratulations to Ray Polson for has ACE on hole 3- First shot for the day!! Also, Patrick Guo for his Eagle 2 on hole #2. Plus, Kevin Pritchard’s great achievement on a GROSS 34 on the front 9!
