Course Development Update – General Manager
Wood’n’Tree have been back on the course all week and the last of the trees will be down by the end of the day. This will be followed by some clean up and removal of the logs on Monday. It is enjoyable to stand on the 13th with some sun on you in the mornings and to look out towards the hills on the 4th. This is the first step of many in the coming months as the course continues to develop.
Board Position
If you are thinking of putting your name down for a position on the board, today is you last chance to do so. All applications need to be in by the end of the day.
Weekly Update – By Club Captain Phil Barlow
The first Saturday frost came along on time and it was a cool wet start to the day after the drizzly rain overnight. However, the field was treated to a fine and very light breeze for the day with the coolness staying. The heavy conditions are certainly making their presence known with scores a bit lower than what we have been used to expecting through the long summer season. Keep an eye out for the GUR play this weekend as there will have been more work undertaken during the week.
This weekend’s competition is round 1 of the BCHP Matchplay for men over 3 tees with others playing Stableford. The women have finals of Buck, Vaile, Dutton, and Coker trophies with the others also playing Stableford.
Please everyone remember to stay up with those in front of you, not in front of those behind you. If you fall a hole behind you may be asked to skip a hole, as the winter 2 tee start means the crossover is very important. Also play ready golf. We do not all need to be like bees around a honey pot, please keep the game moving – you will also stay warmer.
Speaking of staying warmer, the Pro Shop has winter-weight gear in stock, whether pants, gloves, or jackets, so come along a little earlier and get one of the staff to show you through what is in stock.

Pro Tip of the week – Craig Mitchell
Adjust your aim point on the greens because our greens are so firm and fast.
Next time play more break on your putts because they are breaking so much more with the firmness and speed – sometimes your aim point for a breaking putt might be double the break to what you think it will be.
Rule of the week – The clubhead fell off
This week’s rule is a bit of light relief but still a rule.
If the clubhead falls off during the backswing, and you complete the swing but miss the ball it does not count as a stroke. If the clubhead falls off during the downswing and you complete the swing but miss the ball, it counts as a stroke. – USGA decisions 14/2 and 14/3.
