Member News – 23 February 2024
General Manager - Richard Attwood
Thanks to those who have come to me to provide your positive feedback on the upcoming redevelopments. Each week over the coming months we will be providing a weekly update and work that may affect your visit here at the club. Our contractors will try and keep to a fixed programme, but we can’t control the weather.
On Thursday and Friday next week the painters are aiming to be onsite to waterblast the roof of the clubhouse in preparation for painting the following week. For those who park outside the men’s and ladies changing rooms and in front of the ProShop we ask that you park in the main carpark, so your cars are not sprayed by the contractors. Please also keep an eye out for signage that will direct you to another door while they work in that particular area.
We appreciate your consideration and patience during this time.
Thank you
Volunteers Working Bee - Wednesday 21 February
Many thanks to the 18 Volunteers who attended the Working Bee on Wednesday, the Ladies in the gardens, and the Men who have swept clean the pinecones on the course etc.
Thanks
Julie Jones.
Club Captain - Phil Barlow
Fine weather and a light Southerly wind greeted the players last Saturday. With the course in great condition there was some low scoring on those qualify gin for the 4BBB competition. The men have 43 entries, with the cut off after the first round of qualifying being 69. There are seven pairs sitting on 69 with the leaders 11 shots better at 58. The second round for the men is this weekend. The ladies had one round of qualifying with 9 pairs entering.
The first round out matches for the Harewood 4BBB competition commences on the 9th of March. Please remember that matches must be played on or before (by mutual agreement and club captain’s consent) the scheduled round. The Harewood 2024 programme book is available in the Pro-Shop or office to allow you to know what dates the next round is. The Pro-Shop will produce a draw next week following the completion of the qualifying rounds.
The par 3 third pin must have been in a gettable position with 14 2s out of the 23 twos paid out.
Good luck to the Interclub teams Metro A, Metro B and Presidents who have matches this weekend as the competitions are nearing the final rounds to decide the teams to go on to the semi-finals.
Next week’s competitions are Monthly Medal (Black, Blue and White tees) for the men, and LGU Rnd 2, Eclectic Rnd 2, Putting, Paterson Salver Rnd 1, Homelinks National Teams Event.

Tip of the week – Craig Mitchell
How to stop three putting from long range
There’s a saying that the 3 most important things you need to do from long range to putt well is……. SPEED CONTROL – SPEED CONTROL – SPEED CONTROL.
So, having said that don’t fall in love with the line and then have the wrong… SPEED :)
