Club Captain Update – Phil Barlow
The Shotgun last weekend was very well supported with the 120 spots filling quite quickly. We were treated to a warm 21 deg day with a nor ’wester to boot. A big thanks to all that helped to make the day go so smoothly, and thanks to all of you for keeping pace of play such that we got all 120 players around in a reasonable time. It is a lot of people all on the course at one time and it was great to see the club so full and vibrant after the event. We must however remain vigilant with divots, pitch marks and how long we are looking for lost balls. It was disappointing to particularly see so many deep divots just left open and unfilled on the course by club players.
There is a sheet posted in the Pro Shop for men interested in playing interclub for the 3 men’s grades (Woodward Cup, Blank Cup, and Simon Cup). If you are on a single figure handicap, and want to have a go, we invite you to add your details to the list as we are looking for players to represent our club. If you want to find out more about the competitions, send me a txt (Phil Barlow 021 488 993) or ask the Pro Shop for info.
A reminder also that this Saturday - 8 June is when we move to winter tee times with 2 tee starts taking place from 10am. Take note of which tee you are assigned when you book and remember that there will be pressure on tee times while the men’s BCHP competition is on.
This weekend is Monthly Medal (White tees) for the men, and LGU Rnd 5, Harewood Cup Rnd 3, Putting, Qualifying Williamson & Thompson trophies for the women.

Pro Tip by Undercover Pro
Learn to Compress the Ball
Want to get the ball up a little higher in the air?
You must hit down and through it. So many amateur golfers try to pick the ball clean right from the top of the turf. Although the green keepers will probably love you for this, you are doing yourself a disservice.
To get great distance and trajectory with the iron shots, you need to hit down and through the ball.

Once again, a frosty start turned into a fantastic day for golf. With all of the slash cleaned up it meant fewer balls were lost and some excellent scores recorded.
