Accommodation for NZ Interprovincial Team
Ross Fowler is doing liaison work for the Bay of Plenty Team for the Interprovincials here in December.
The team is looking for another house to accommodate their women's team of 7 people.
Dates are 1st to 8th December
Preference would obviously be close to the courses, if possible, but would consider anything in greater Christchurch.
If you think you could help the team out, please contact Ross on the below details.

Scott McKenzie
Brian Tinworth passed on an article about Scott McKenzie. The club held a fundraiser for Scott, and this is his story. (nice to see he his still wearing his Harewood Golf Club vest)

Club Captain Update – Phil Barlow
Thankfully the sun came out last Saturday to give everyone a bit of warmth on a cool winters club day. Thank you to all for making the effort to keep pace of play up, it makes for a smooth day with no one getting hot under the collar for slowness. We have had lots of positive feedback about having the cart out on-course for a while to provide warm and cold food and drinks. Remember these initiatives only work and continue when supported, so if you think it’s a great thing, and you get a bit peckish, support the café during your round.
With more rain experienced this week, the course will be softening up progressively, so it is even more important that we all play our part in course care. Filling divots and fixing pitch marks only takes a few seconds, so please do your bit.
With the men’s Monthly Medal being off the yellow tees this weekend, there may be a couple of hold-ups on reachable holes. Please be patient, and please play ready golf where possible to keep pace of play moving along, and men, please look after the yellow tees.
The AGM will take place this year on Thursday 18 July at 7PM at the club. Come along to hear how the club has gone over the last 12 months. There are 2 Board places to be fulfilled as well as the Club Captain role. If you believe you can help add value to the club and are willing to help out in one of these positions, please contact Richard at the office.
This weekend’s club competitions are: Men - Monthly Medal from the yellow tees. Women have LGU Rnd 6, Putting, Paterson Salver Rnd 2.

There were 14 2’s on Saturday paying $17 each. Nett Eagles was hole 9 and not struck, so will jackpot again this Saturday.
Pro Tip by Craig Mitchell
In recent years, Ping Golf have done some analysis with their high-tech cameras on what happens when you have a dollop of mud on your ball.
Believe it or not if the mud is on the right of the ball it will fly to the left, the opposite happens if the mud is on the left side of the ball it will fly to the right.
So next time you’re in the rough and you have a mud ball – follow my advice and aim your shot accordingly.
Upcoming golf (for full details refer to the 2024 programme – copies available at the Pro Shop).
