Member Updates – Richard Attwood

This week everyone should have received their subscription emails from the Club, if for some reason you have not received it, please contact the office. A big thank you to all those who have already paid their subscriptions or made contact to arrange their monthly payments.

Club Sponsors – New opportunities

We have a great group of long term partners that add value to the Club, and support many of our projects. As you all know we have plans to reinvest back in the club over the next few years. If you have a business or in the position to make a difference to the club, please feel free to drop into the office or send an email and have a chat with me to see what opportunities there are here at the Harewood Golf Club.

Club Captain Update – Phil Barlow

A cool wind played its part last weekend just to remind us that we have not got out of winter yet. While the breeze was cutting, the fairways were running quite a bit faster which I’m sure many would have been pleased about. A note for those that have yet to walk close to it, the new bunker on hole 5 is now in play, just in time for Club Champs.

This weekend sees Monthly Medal for the men off the white tees, while the women will have a Stableford round – note the women’s format is different to the printed programme. The following weekend sees the start of the Matchplay for the men’s club champs. This means all 4 tees will be in use again with 64 men playing in the first round, so tee availability will be a bit tight. The women’s qualifying for Club Champs is also on the following weekend. A reminder that if you book a tee slot and cannot make it on a Saturday, please contact the Pro Shop or remove it online so others that missed out get a chance to play.

For men that have qualified for Club Champs, you will now have received tee times for your first round. If you cannot make your match, please contact the Pro Shop as soon as possible so we can bring in the 17th qualifier. Congratulations to the top qualifiers for each grade, and therefore 36-hole stroke champions.

  • Seniors (+5.0 – 8.0):                        Scott Manyweathers
  • Intermediate: (8.1 – 12.5)             Paul O’Neill
  • Junior A: (12.6 – 17.0)                     Scott Double
  • Junior B: (17.1 – 54.0)                     Tony Pole

There is no interclub report this week as Canterbury Golf abandoned all interclub last Sunday because of the heavy rain, therefore some courses were closed.

Pro Tip by Craig Mitchell

This week’s Pro Tip is giving yourself the best opportunity of having a great day, by warming up on the range with a small bucket of range balls.

So having said do yourself a favour on a cold morning and hit 25 balls on the range so you’re all warmed up before you hit the first tee.
