Club Captain Update – Phil Barlow

The weather won last Saturday, and the days competitions abandoned due to lack of participants and therefore no results either. It’s looking a lot better this weekend with showers due later in the day on Saturday. Because we would still like to donate to Cancer charities, while it is Monthly Medal for the men and a Par comp for the women, we will still have a box to collect donations for this very worthy cause and we thank you in advance for your donations. A reminder for the men that there are only 2 more Saturdays left to qualify for the Allprint Shootout for 2024 – this Saturday and next.

This weekend is Monthly Medal from the blue tees for the men and Par for the women.

Interclub report

The Woodward Cup team has its last round robin game this Sunday at Christchurch GC against Waimairi Beach. 9:30 from tee 7 is the start time for those that can make it to support them.

The Metro A team is also playing on Sunday at Avondale against Avondale at 9.00am.

The Metro B team also playing this weekend with a home game against McLeans island also at 9.00am on Sunday.

Good luck to you all.

Pro Tip by Craig Mitchell

A good way to improve your short game is practise the way you are going to play

So, take the club you would like to chip with and your putter to the chipping part of the putting green (the far side) and chip one ball to a hole then putt out (the goal is to take 2 shots)

Then repeat the process but keep changing the hole you are chipping to (so short medium and long chips) this makes your practise very real and will help you on the golf course.
